A negligible-mass beam is hinged at P and roller-supported at Q as shown. A 1200 N downward load acts at R. Find the reaction magnitude at Q (N).

Correct answer: 1500 to 1500
Explanation
Take moments about P. The applied load gives1200×5=6000 N·m. The horizontal reaction at Q has a4 m moment arm, so RQ=6000/4=**1500 N**. The10 m horizontal position of Q is not its lever arm for a horizontal force.
