The horizontal circular-section cantilever shown has length 1.0 m, flexural rigidity 200 N·m² and applied end moment 1.0 N·m. Find free-end vertical deflection magnitude (mm), to one decimal place.

Correct answer: 2.4 to 2.6
Explanation
The bending moment is constant. Integrating $EIy^{\prime\prime}=M$ with zero root displacement and slope gives $y(L)=ML^2/(2EI)$. Thus deflection is $1/(2\cdot200)=0.0025$ m, or **2.5 mm**.
