P, Q, R, S, T and U sit around a circular table. R is two places to the right of Q. P is three places to the left of R. S sits opposite U. If P and U swap seats, which must be true?

  1. P is immediately to the right of R
  2. T is immediately to the left of P
  3. T is immediately to the left of P or P is immediately to the right of Q
  4. U is immediately to the right of R or P is immediately to the left of T

Correct answer: (C) T is immediately to the left of P or P is immediately to the right of Q

Explanation

Number seats 0–5 in the rightward direction. Place Q at 0, R at 2 and P at 5. The remaining possibilities are S at 1, T at 3, U at 4, or U at 1, T at 3, S at 4. After swapping P and U, either T is immediately left of P or P is immediately right of Q. Answer C.
