Two generators have no-load frequencies 51.5 Hz and 51 Hz, each with droop 1 Hz/MW. Their total load is 2.5 MW. Assuming droop operation, find steady-state system frequency (Hz).

Correct answer: 49.9 to 50.1
Explanation
At frequency f,the two generator outputs are(51.5−f)/1and(51−f)/1MW. Their sum must equal2.5MW,so102.5−2f=2.5and **f=50Hz**. The respective outputs are1.5and1MW,both positive and adding to the stated load.
