A CNC waterjet cuts the shortest straight slot from (2,1) to (10,10) in the XY plane, coordinates in mm. Feed rate is 1.5 mm/s. Find machining time in seconds to two decimals.

Correct answer: 8.00 to 8.10

Explanation

Length is $\sqrt{(10-2)^2+(10-1)^2}=\sqrt{145}$ mm. Time = length/feed = $\sqrt{145}/1.5=8.0277$ s, or **8.03 s**.
