A pump supplies80 L/s for 10 h to 2 ha. Root-zone depth 50 cm;gravimetric moisture rises18%→30%;soil bulk density1500 kg/m³. Find water-application efficiency in percent, to two decimals.

Correct answer: 62.25 to 62.75

Explanation

Stored water depth=(.30−.18)(1500/1000)(.50)=.09 m. Stored volume=.09(20000)=1800 m³. Applied volume=.080(10)(3600)=2880 m³. Efficiency=1800/2880×100=**62.50%**. Gravimetric moisture must first be converted using bulk density.
