Solvents A and B are completely immiscible. Solute S dissolves in both; 100 g S is added to 2 kg each of A and B. It is 1.5 times more soluble in A than in B. After thorough agitation and equilibrium, all S is dissolved. Find grams of S in phase A.
With equal solvent masses, the equilibrium concentration ratio gives the same solute-mass ratio: $m_A/m_B=1.5$. Conservation gives $m_A+m_B=100$ g. Hence $2.5m_B=100$, so mB = 40 g and mA = 60 g.
