Ten vehicle spot speeds in km/h are 45, 35, 25, 51, 45, 38, 61, 42, 47, 49. Find time-mean speed in km/h to one decimal.

Correct answer: 43.0 to 44.0

Explanation

Time-mean speed is the arithmetic mean of the observed spot speeds. Their sum is 438 km/h; dividing by 10 gives 43.8 km/h. A harmonic mean would instead correspond to the equal-distance space-mean-speed calculation.
