Rahul, Murali, Srinivas and Arul are seated around a square table. Rahul is sitting to the left of Murali. Srinivas is sitting to the right of Arul. Which of the following pairs are seated opposite each other?

  1. Rahul and Murali
  2. Srinivas and Arul
  3. Srinivas and Murali
  4. Srinivas and Rahul

Correct answer: (C) Srinivas and Murali

Explanation

Rahul and Murali sit next to each other, and so do Srinivas and Arul, so each opposite pair has one person from each couple. Going around the table, "left of Murali" is Rahul, and "right of Arul" is Srinivas. That gives the order Murali, Rahul, Srinivas, Arul around the table, so Murali is opposite Srinivas and Rahul is opposite Arul.
