Which one of the following sets of pieces can be assembled to form a square with a single round hole near the center? Pieces cannot overlap.

Correct answer: (C) Option C in the figure

Explanation

A single round hole near the centre appears when the three pieces meet at a point and each one carries one third of the circular cut-out. Only the set in option C has a circular bite in each of the three pieces, so the arcs can come together into one circle. The other sets do not have a bite in all three pieces.
