Two integers have sum 26 and product 165. Find their difference.

Correct answer: (C) 4

Explanation

Let the integers be a,b. Then $(a-b)^2=(a+b)^2-4ab=26^2-4(165)=16$. Their absolute difference is therefore **4, C**. Equivalently, the numbers are 15 and 11.
