The diode shown is ideal and the source is $i_s(t)=\pi\sin(3000\pi t)$ mA. The magnitude of average current through resistor R is ______ mA (two decimal places).

Correct answer: 0.95 to 1.05

Explanation

The diode shunts one current half-cycle; the resistor carries the other. The magnitude of a half-wave sinusoid’s average is $I_{peak}/\pi$. Here $I_{peak}=\pi$ mA, giving **1.00 mA**.
