Experimental data are $(x,y)=(1,8),(2,15),(3,19)$. A line $y=mx+c$ is fitted by least squares. Its slope $m$ is ______ (one decimal place).

Correct answer: 5.2 to 5.8
Explanation
The means are $\bar x=2$ and $\bar y=14$.
The slope is $m=\sum(x-\bar x)(y-\bar y)/\sum(x-\bar x)^2$.
The numerator is $(-1)(-6)+0+1(5)=11$ and denominator $1+0+1=2$.
Thus **$m=5.5$**.
