GATE 2022 IN – Question 57
A conducting semicircular loop of radius $R=0.1$ m has its diameter centred at the origin and rotates in the x–y plane at $\omega=20$ rad/s. A magnetic field $B=2$ T normal to that plane exists for $x\ge0$, as shown. The loop resistance is 2 $\Omega$ and its inductance negligible. Its peak-to-peak current is ______ mA (one decimal place).

Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: 200.0 to 200.0
Explanation
The overlap sector area changes at rate R²ω/2, giving emf magnitude BR²ω/2=0.2 V. Across 2 Ω the current alternates between ±0.1 A. Peak-to-peak current is therefore **200.0 mA**.
