GATE 2021 IN – Question 24

Analog Electronics · Operational amplifiers and applications · 1 mark · Numerical answer

The diode has fixed forward drop 0.6 V. The ideal OPAMP receives $v_s=0.4\sin(100\pi t)$ as shown. At the positive peak of $v_s$, OPAMP output $v_{OA}$ is ______ V.

Correct answer: 1 to 1

Explanation

At the positive input peak vs=0.4 V the diode conducts and negative feedback forces the node after it to 0.4 V. The op-amp must also overcome its 0.6-V forward drop, so vOA=0.4+0.6=**1 V**. The question asks for the amplifier output, not the load voltage.
