Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: (D) 2.0
Explanation
For a thin closed cylindrical vessel, hoop stress is pD/(2t). Longitudinal stress balances pressure on the end cap and equals pD/(4t). Their ratio is therefore **2.0, D**. Closed ends are essential to the axial-pressure loading used here.
