The rectifier shown feeds series R = 10 Ω and L = 0.05 H. With ideal thyristor and diode, find firing angle (degrees) for average load voltage 70 V.

Correct answer: 69 to 70
Explanation
The freewheel diode clamps load voltage to zero outside source conduction. Over one cycle, Vavg=(1/2π)∫α^π325sinθdθ=325(1+cosα)/(2π). Set this to70V:cosα=2π×70/325−1. Therefore **α=69.3106°**. Load RLand current continuity do not alter this ideal output-voltage integral.
