How many rectangles are present in the given figure?

Correct answer: (C) 10

Explanation

The diagonal segments form a rotated grid of three lines in each of two perpendicular directions. Choosing two lines from each direction gives $\binom32\times\binom32=9$ rectangles (squares included). Adding the large outer square gives $9+1=10$.
