Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (D) 7.29 litres

Explanation

Each well-mixed replacement retains 9/10 of the spirit present. After three operations the spirit volume is 10(9/10)³=7.29 litres, D. The removed later litres contain both spirit and water, so simple subtraction of three litres would be wrong.
