Survey points are A(E0, N200) m and B(E300, N200) m. Whole-circle bearings AO and BO are 67° and 35°. Find the easting of O in metres, to two decimals.
Let x=Eₒ and y=Nₒ−200. The bearings give x=y tan67° and x−300=y tan35°. Subtracting gives y=300/(tan67°−tan35°). Thus x=300tan67°/(tan67°−tan35°)=426.8764 m, or 426.88 m. Both bearings are measured clockwise from north, so use easting divided by northing difference for the tangent.
