Correct answer: (A) 65.1

Explanation

The design shear strength of a shop fillet weld is $f_{wd} = \frac{f_u}{\sqrt{3}\gamma_{mw}} = \frac{410}{\sqrt{3} \times 1.25} = 189.4$ MPa. The throat thickness is $0.7 \times 5 = 3.5$ mm. The weld around the circumference of the tube (diameter 250 mm) has the area $\pi \times 250 \times 3.5 = 2749$ mm² and lies at the radius 125 mm, so the torque capacity is $189.4 \times 2749 \times 125 = 65.1 \times 10^6$ N mm $= 65.1$ kN m.
