A reservoir has live storage 300 million m³ and irrigates 40000 ha with two fillings over a crop base period of 120 days. Find duty in ha per cumec, nearest integer.

Explanation
Total supplied volume is 600 million m³. Mean discharge over 120 days is $Q=600\times10^6/(120\times86400)=57.87037$ m³/s. Duty is area/discharge: $40000/57.87037=691.2$ ha/cumec. **Answer: 691**; using one filling would double the inferred duty.
