A sheet is rolled with no width change using 600 mm diameter rolls. Neglect elastic roll deflection; friction coefficient is 0.05. It enters unaided and initial thickness is 2 mm. Find minimum final thickness in a single pass (mm), to two decimal places.

Correct answer: 1.24 to 1.26
Explanation
For unaided biting, maximum draft is $\Delta h=\mu^2R=0.05^2(300)=0.75$ mm. Minimum final thickness is $2-0.75=\mathbf{1.25}$ mm.
