A circuit using an ideal OP-AMP is shown in the Figure. Which of the following options gives the correct value of the current $I_X$?

Correct answer: (C) 3.0 mA

Explanation

The inverting node is a virtual ground, so 2 mA flows through both 1 kΩ resistors and $V_M=-2$ V. The 2 kΩ to ground carries −1 mA, so the current through the output 2 kΩ is $2-(-1)=3$ mA.
