A steel plate fixed to a channel through identical bolts A, B and C carries a 6 kN load as shown. Including direct load and moment, the resultant shear-force magnitude on bolt C is ______ kN.

Correct answer: (C) 17

Explanation

The bolt-group centroid is at B. The eccentricity from B to the load is50+30+170=250mm, giving moment1500kN·mm. The outer bolt radii are50mm, so sum of squared radii is5000mm². Moment-induced force on C is1500·50/5000=15kN. Direct load is6/3=2kN and adds at C, giving **17kN, C**.
