Explanation

A 1 A current source (pointing from X to Y) in parallel with a 1 kΩ resistor. The current flowing into X and out of Y is $I_{XY}=1\text{ A}+\dfrac{V_{XY}}{1\text{ k}\Omega}$. This is a straight line with a small positive slope that starts from 1 A at $V_{XY}=0$: plot (B).
