The next figure (indicated by '?') in the sequence is

Three grids of 4 rows and 3 columns in a row, each with a small arrow at its top left corner, followed by an arrow and a '?'. Grid 1 has a triangle in the top right cell and a circle in the third row, left column. In grid 2 the triangle is one row lower and the circle is in the bottom left cell. In grid 3 the circle is in the top left cell and the triangle is in the third row, right column. Four candidate grids (A) to (D) are shown below.

Correct answer: (A) Option A in the figure

Explanation

In every step both shapes move down by one row and stay in their column. A shape that leaves the bottom row comes back in at the top. The circle goes from row 3 to row 4 to row 1, so it next lands in row 2 of the left column. The triangle goes from row 1 to row 2 to row 3, so it next lands in row 4 of the right column. Option A shows the circle in row 2, left column, and the triangle in the bottom right cell.
