Correct answer: (C) Diagram C

Explanation

Reverse migratory insertion moves the methyl to one of the four cis positions relative to the acyl; the trans CO is not an equivalent migration site. If the labelled cis CO leaves,25% product is unlabelled. The three retained-label cases divide into one label trans to Me(25%) and two label cis to Me(50%). This **25:25:50 distribution, C**, also gives the correct methyl relocation.
