The half-wave rectifier shown uses an ideal diode. Find approximate average steady-state diode current (A).

Correct answer: 0.08 to 0.12
Explanation
In periodic steady state the capacitor’s average current is zero. Hence the average diode current equals average load current. Here RC=100×0.004=0.4s is much larger than the20ms period, so the capacitor holds the output near the10V peak. Thus average current≈10/100=**0.1A**; ripple gives a small reduction.
